I have to say that right now my missing standard toolbar is far more
irritating than having to press <shift> for a capital. See my post from
Saturday. Can anyone help please? And the gdict post on Sunday.
PS Thanks to Jared Davis for pointing me to the thesaurus plugin. Now,
that is what I, as a professional writer, call a useful feature.
Seriously, I think if Abiword is to stay its sleek and simple self
(which is why I like it), great caution needs to be exercised as regards
the adding of features. I have just been trying Open Office and its
complexity drives me mad, not to mention that it is nearly twenty!!
times as large as Abiword, because of millions of features that I
personally, as a magazine and book writer, neither need nor want. As for
auto-completion - if I am typing 'banana' I do not want 'bandicoot'
appearing at the cursor, thank you very much! Am I being hyper-critical?
I have used a very simple command line word processor called Protext for
twenty odd years and only changed because of the desire to do all the
modern things that my old computer could not - internet, graphics etc.
However, my experience of Word nearly drove me back to Protext for its
efficiency and simplicity. Linux and Abiword have been like coming back
into the light. However, we cannot all be pleased all of the time, can
